An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting plastic, you scan a QR code and the phone downloads the line. A VoyaSIM travel eSIM adds prepaid mobile data for your destination next to your normal SIM, so you keep your own number and skip roaming charges.
How a travel eSIM works
Your phone can hold several lines at once. The VoyaSIM line carries data only: it connects to a local partner network at your destination (the plan page names them), and your home SIM stays in the phone for calls and SMS. When the trip ends you can delete the line, or keep it for a top-up next time.
- Buy a plan for the country or region you are visiting.
- Scan the QR code from the email, over Wi-Fi, before you fly.
- Land and switch on data roaming for the VoyaSIM line. The plan starts at that first connection.
What it does not do
A VoyaSIM eSIM has no phone number of its own. Calls and texts go through your home SIM or through apps such as WhatsApp and FaceTime, which work normally over the eSIM's data.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remove my physical SIM?
No. The eSIM is added next to your existing SIM. Keep the physical SIM in the phone for calls and SMS.
Can I use the same eSIM on two phones?
No. An eSIM is installed on one device. If you change phones, contact support before your plan starts.
